Our initial aim is to bring together a group of individuals concerned about both climate change and peak oil with the aim of taking the town of Altrincham through the 12 step transition programme. Our hope is that by pooling our ideas and energy, this group will help to make Altrincham more resilient to these challenges and to ultimately to create an energy decent plan for the borough.
The 12 steps of the transition programme are outlined by Rob Hopkins in his book The Transition Handbook.
We are currently at Stage 1; the creation of a steering group. This stage puts a steering group in place to drive the project forward during the initial phases. This group will be in place with the aim of getting through stages 2 – 5. When a minimum of four sub-groups are formed, the steering group disbands and a core team with one person from each of sub-groups is formed. Ultimately the core team should become made up of 1 representative from each sub-group.
